WHO WE ARE

The Daytona Beach Punishers Women’s Rugby Football Club was founded in September of 2005. The team officially was recognized in January of 2006 and currently competes in the Florida Rugby Union. Our diverse membership consists of students from Daytona Beach Community College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Palmer Chiropractic University and local community members. In just our second season we are already showing great potential with a 2nd place finish in the state championships – the Florida Cup.

We are paying members of the Florida Rugby Union and USA Rugby. USA Rugby is the national governing body of rugby union in the United States. It is responsible for recognizing, developing, and managing all the teams, men and women, in the US, as well as the International US team which competes against other nations in the World Cup.

WHAT WE DO

We compete throughout the year. From January to June we compete in league play against all the other women’s team based in Florida. Over the summer we play a faster style of rugby which consists of only 7 players a side. We participate in various tournaments in the south eastern United States. In the fall season we participate in playoffs for the state championships, the south championships, and national championships.


The Punishers’ ambition is to become the best women’s rugby club in Florida. We had a great deal of help starting up from the men’s club who donated balls, pads, and funded the lining of the fields. We also have been sponsored by Robbie O’Connell’s pub that has been gracious enough to purchase us a full set of jerseys, socks, and shorts. We also have each lady pay dues every season to offset the cost, but we are still in need of outside help and funding. Anyone that comes out for the team has to purchase cleats ($50-$60), and mandatory liability insurance through USA rugby ($35/year). On top of that we are required to team dues to USA Rugby ($100) and Florida Rugby Union dues, which this year will be $1325. Each home game we host costs us $35 for the Referees and around $30 to line the field. These numbers do not include our other travel and equipment expenses. Currently Embry Riddle has allowed us to use there fields and lights at no charge.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

We are looking to create travel/warm-up/supporter t-shirts. These shirts would be worn by the team before our home matches, during our trips to away matches, and at any of our community philanthropic, fundraising, or recruitment events. We would also sell these t-shirts at home games to any supporters. The front of the t-shirt would have the Daytona Beach Punishers logo and team name. The back would be reserved for advertising space – hopefully your logo! Our hope is the advertising space will cover the cost of the making of the t-shirts. The t-shirts will be sold and the entire proceeds would be used to purchase equipment, uniforms, and pay yearly dues.

SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES

GOLD SPONSOR (500+)
The gold sponsor will get their logo put on the back of 50+ t-shirts, a logo and link will be added to the team’s website, their logo will be added to a banner to be hung up at all home games, and they will receive a picture of the team to hang in their establishment.

SILVER SPONSOR (400-499)
The silver sponsor will get a logo and link will be added to the team’s website, their logo will be added to a banner to be hung up at all home games, and they will receive a picture of the team to hang in theirestablishment.

BRONZE SPONSOR (250-399)
The bronze sponsor will get a logo and link will be added to the team’s website and their logo will be added to a banner to be hung up at all home games.
